The gentry are the landholders in the society of The Hundred Kingdoms. They are a sort of lesser nobility ranked below the Peerage (Dukes, Earls, and Barons) but above the yeomanry. Unlike the yeomanry, the gentry do not work their own land themselves, but employ serfs or tenant farmers to work their manors.
Membership in the gentry qualifies one to bear arms, and comes with certain requirements of military service or payment in kind. Most gentry bear no titles, other than that of knighthood, though a Baron will own several manors.
